performing history 1980 's

In 1980, I found my medium.
It was The Jerry Michelsen Trio. We were a jazz and blues band with grand piano, upright bass, and drums. I also sang and played harmonica. We donned suits and tuxedos and continued playing the Puget Sound circuit from the 1970's, but now it was high-end venues like resorts and fine restaurants. We were the house band at the Islander Lopez on Lopez Island in The San Juan Islands, Washington. We played in the
Canadian Sunshine Coast area in British Columbia. In 1981 we moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Franzi Cafe was our main venue and we stayed for five years, playing in tuxedos six nights a week, four sets a night. It was heaven. By 1986 we were again in the Pacific Northwest. We played on
The Crown Princess Victoria, B.C. Stenna Lines' cruise ship from Seattle to Victoria, and also in Seattle Restaurants. As a soloist, I played in Alaska on the S.S. Universe with
World Explorer Cruises.
